An antique Schoenhut toy set from the early 1920s, featuring a circus theme with 7 figures and 5 ladders. Made in the United States, this vintage toy is a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage and antique toys. The set captures the charm and craftsmanship of toys from the early 20th century. Several of the clowns legs are not attached but seem to be able to be repaired quite easily. Their faces do show wear and damage for something a 100 years old. All items come from a smoke-free home. Please see pictures above for details and condition. THE RAREST CDV OF THE MOST FAMOUS “SIAMESE TWINS” CHANG & ENG + THEIR WIVES & TWO OF THEIR TWENTY-ONE CHILDREN – P. BARNUM – Chang and Eng Bunker remain the most famous Siamese twins of all time. The CDV you are considering is considered the rarest image ever taken of these duo along with the two sisters whom they married and two, of the twenty-one children they fathered together. Chang & Eng were definitely P. Barnum’s most successful Siamese Twins of all time. The circus sideshow photograph remains in amazing antique condition with the photographer’s back mark I have shown in my second listing photo. If you are a 19th Century circus collector, then this is a must have image for your collection. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. The CDV is the only image taken with their wives. The print as well as the mount are in amazing antique condition. The image is one of the best printings I have encountered, with excellent contrast, tonal range and sharpness. The only imperfection I can find is a tiny crease in the upper left corner of the mount. The E & HT Anthony back mark is boldly printed as well. As a major early American circus photo collector, I can tell you this specific photograph of Chang & Eng rarely comes to the market.
Rare original CDV, 4″ x 2.5″, in very good antique condition with some light mount edge wear. This is a difficult to find Eisenmann image. Condition: Image looks good, although there is some moisture related condition issues, including some waviness to the mount and separation of the paper layers of the mount, in the bottom 1/3 or the image or so. I have reduced the price of this rare image accordingly. Freak barnum circus sideshow ethnic india indian sari.
Rare French folk art style fairgound Shooting Target Game – Les Surprises De Pierrot (Pierrot’s Surprises). Circa 1910 – 1920. Very charming and beautiful vintage circus / carnival masquerade / fairground funfair / folk art style antique shooting game that displays very attractively as a wall hanging artwork. The Pierrot is depicted sitting at a table drinking Champagne, and in the window behind a black cat slides & changes to a Harlequin with a candle, and a Pigs head appears rising out of a pie. Printed artwork laid on 3-dimensional wooden boards & frame, with levered / sliding mechanisms to change the scenes and characters. The sliding mechanism’s still work. Some wear to the printed paper, marks from the shooting impact, aging to colour, and small cracks to the wood, appropriate to the age. The game probably once had a back board covering, but the mechanisms are now interestingly exposed. Generally in solid condition and displays very attractively with a nice vintage colour. Has a bracket for wall mounting. W: 52 x H: 40 x D: 10 cm. Check our other items of decorative antiques, curiosities and works of art for sale.
