Original cabinet card of Carrie Akers and her manager I believe.. Maybe her husband, billed as a “Midget Fat Lady”, and also as’The Warthog. Back is blank other than her name in period pencil. This cabinet card is 6.5″ x 4.25″ with blank back (other than the writing). Good antique condition as shown, with pinhole mount wear, etc. Oddities bizarre rare history sideshow circus barnum 1860s antique vintage.

I don’t recognize the pair and could not find another example of this image online, as hard as I tried. I picked up a decent sized collection of these sideshow people images. Quite a few were on this pink mount with blank backs. A note that was with the collection said that many were TEST SHOTS for the famous photographer Eisenmann. That might explain why I could not find other examples, and why the backs are blank.

Two original 1870s CDV of performing birds and their trainer… No doubt “professional performers” considering the photographer, Eisenmann, who was famous for his photos of sideshow and circus personalities. A very rare set! The CDV with the trainer in it is slightly trimmed (dimensions are 3.75″ x 2.5″). The one with the bird on the rolling log is not trimmed and is in very good antique condition with light edge wear and some toning on the back. Sideshow oddities history circus animals barnum. Antique 1880’s Eisenmann Charles B Tripp Armless Circus Cabinet Card Signed. I bought an album that had several of these types of photos in it- Most are dated in the late 1880’s. Signed by Charles Tripp. Cabinet-card portrait of Charles Tripp, the “Armless Wonder, ” inscribed and signed by him. Born without arms, Tripp taught himself at a young age how to dress, eat, shave, write, and perform a variety of other tasks with his feet. He had become noted for his calligraphy and woodworking skills when he left home for New York City at the age of 17 to seek employment with P. Barnum hired him during their first meeting, and Tripp would perform for the circuses of Barnum, Bailey, and the Ringling Brothers for the next 35 years, and later for smaller carnivals. This happens to be one of the nicest examples of this photo we have seen. In contrast to this very fine photo, many others are much faded or badly damaged.
