A wonderful set of antique polychrome die cut souvenir cards from a New York Hippodrome circus show, produced by Syndicate Publishing Company, NY, 1913. The Hippodrome Theatre also called the New York Hippodrome, was a theater in New York City from 1905 to 1939. This set of 15 different cardboard cards (3 duplicates) feature the famous circus animals like elephants, horses, camels, and seals, as well as performers like clowns, Uncle Sam, trapeze artists, and strong men, and are mounted on a black background in ebonized molded wooden frames, two of which have matching gilt decoration. Each card is in very good condition, with a few corner bends, expected edge wear, and slight fade, and each measures approximately 10″ H x 9 ½” W, varying slightly from card to card.
