Antique Original Nevada Western Wild West Show Banner, Circus Banner. Hand painted circa 1946 canvas banner for Nevada Law’s Western Show. A Wild West type show held in Nevada featuring Guns, Whips, Ropes and Knives! 16 ft by 32. Hand painted shimmery paint. Has original grommets and leather, some repairs, but overall a great banner. Even has its original union made label, produced by the Portland branch of the Union of United Brewery, Flour, Cereal and Soft Drink workers of America. This antique canvas banner advertises for a historic mechanical circus. The banner likely originates from around the turn of the century. Please take a close look at the photos for details on condition of the banner. Regarding it’s history, if the banner came from Europe then there are a few possibilities. If it came from the U. Then one rather strange, but strong, contender is Professor Faber’s Wonderful Talking Machine. It was invented right at the human-aided automaton era (later followed by the coin-operated era) in the early 1840s, although it did take Australian inventor Joseph Fabre a few tries to get it right. This piece features a bright, colorful primary color palette with lightning bolt embellishments alluding to Miss Electra’s “powers”. DESCRIPTION: Offered to you is this Very Rare antique 1930s Art Deco large circus poster, banner, oil on canvas painting depicting a Bengal tiger in its surroundings. Comes from the estate of an Austrian diplomat who held appointments in France and Italy during the 1920s and 1930s. Typical Art Deco stylization of the tiger and the background. Resembles the style of O’Henry Tent & Awning Co. There are signs of age with some paint flaking but it doesn’t seriously affect its overall impressive looks. 1910s CARNIVAL Plantation Minstrel Show BANNER African American Vintage PHOTO

This is part of a unique set of photos from “Captain Jim Moore’s Famous Shows” Carnival & Sideshow Traveling Show based out of Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. This original image is one of 5 from different carnival shows they set up across the country. He ran sideshows along with carnival rides and games. This photo features a great sideshow banner for the OLD PLANTATION SHOW. It featured African American performers. The man in the middle with a beard is Capt Jim Moore, the owner of the traveling carnival show. These photos are from the estate of Nettye Cameron who traveled with the circus (possibly as a manger for Mr Moore). These photos come from her estate, down the line from her great great nephew. She worked closely with the side show cast as she had a lot of photos with them and some were signed (will be offered up at a later date). Please check my other auctions for more vintage photos.
