ABOUT PHOTOGRAVURE: Photogravure is an intaglio printmaking process utilizing a carefully etched copper plate made from the original negative/image. Prints are made by pressing suitable paper heavily down upon the inked copper plate which has been intricately etched to varying depths corresponding with the actual tonality of the original negative, This precisely etched plate combined with a fine “honeycomb” screen controls the amount of ink to be transferred to the paper at any given point in direct proportion to the variation of tone in the original image. The result is a true continuous tone print which combines many qualities of a traditional silver based photograph with a tactile feel similar to an etching, engraving or lithograph. Rich in tonal detail, the photogravure process produces delicately rendered shades for a look which is unique in the world of photographic print making. In the early to mid 1900’s photogravure was selected (when budgets allowed) for special high quality publishing and portfolio projects, but due to its significant expense and labor, the process is rarely seen today. From Man Ray and Ruth Bernhard to Brett Weston and Ansel Adams, many of the world’s most renowned photographic masters have published their images in the rich photogravure process. Antique Mr Big Mouth man in barrel carnival/circus trash can Vintage 1940's
RARE Carnival trash receptacle! “Mr Big Mouth” grotesque head of a man with his mouth wide open sitting atop a barrel which you drop your cans, bottles, and other waste into. Appears to be made of spun fiberglass and resin. I found some information on the web about these. Apparently there are only 4 others known to be in existence. The measurements are approx. 16.5″ wide (at the middle of barrel) x 33″ tall. The weight is 16.5 lbs. I will take it to them for no additional cost. Note: Whenever possible I use recycled, repurposed, and/or used packaging materials. This is my small way of helping save the planet and my pocketbook! The item “Antique Mr Big Mouth man in barrel carnival/circus trash can Vintage 1940’s” is in sale since Thursday, November 4, 2021. Light brown with black and white images of clown tightrope walkers–at least this is my best interpretation of these images! Fabric covered button-up front. Snaps at waist and top of bodice. Fabric covered matching belt. Fabric looks like raw silk. Very good condition overall with the exception of two small spots on skirt as pictured–with the irregularities inherent in the fabric design, IMO, they are not particularly noticeable when the dress is worn unless upon close inspection. L A B E L S. Dress: Original Prestige Junior of New York. Belt: This Edson Backing. Wash or Dry Clean as Required by Garment. S I Z I N G / F I T. Measurements (taken with garment laying flat and doubled when necessary). Shoulder to Hem: 45. Hem to Waist: 29.5. Widest belt option: 27.
