One of a Kind Rainbow Circus. Octopus Clown Pop Art Doll. Claude by Poppywise Productions Hi there, and thank you for popping in! This sweet, sad Circus Octopus was created from osnaburg muslin I hand-painted and accented with charcoal. He’s been entirely sealed for longevity – the charcoal won’t rub off when in contact with other surfaces. He’s nearly 9 tall from the top of his tattered hat to his underside. Across his legs, he’s about 13 wide. Please refer to the photo above in which Claude holds a pencil to show scale. Claude has hand-stitched eyelids and hand-painted features. His suckers were individually sculpted and painted, as was his nose. His hat is stitched to his head. A tattered ruff is tied around his neck. A silk cord has been threaded through his hat and head and attached to a swivel hook so that he can spin freely. When hung from a height, his rainbow underside is absolutely mesmerizing while spinning! Though he looks huggable, this Doll is intended for adult collectors and is not a child’s toy. Very seldom found, cute, 15 tall, handmade, CIRCUS CLOWN FAMILY group of four cloth dolls as designed by doll artist, Edith Flack Ackley’s. Book, “Dolls to Make for Fun and Profit”. This adorable group of dolls have perfectly embroidered features, thick curly, yarn hair, long slender arms and legs and is dressed in their original vintage cotton, printed costumes. These dolls were also originally designed and sewn from kits advertised in the November 1934 issue of. The Woman’s Home Companion. Magazine and are in very good condition. Due to the fact that these dolls are made of fabric and were popular, Depression era, play things, they are getting harder to find. They have no holes or tears, fading or odors and are from a smoke free home. See a similar model doll that was featured for, ” A Little Girl’s Christmas “, 1939, “Woman’s Home Companion” ad.
