Are some of the most desirable Early 20th Century carnival sideshow banner artworks. It is LARGE measuring over 9 foot 6 inches wide and 5 feet tall… Nice condition with one hole by the first E in legged. Still has the very durable attachment corner hangers. This was likely the lower half of a larger banner, but it is still a great piece and a terrific example of Americana… Tough to find these in any condition. Johnson January 1892, Chicago, Illinois – 11 May 1990, Sun City, Arizona was a prolific sideshow banner artist whose career spanned 65 years. His banner paintings were displayed at the Chicago World’s Fair of 1933, called A Century of Progress, and by circuses such as Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey, and Clyde Beatty. He has been called the “Picasso” of circus art.
