Antique Carved Horse Tricycle, Wooden, Exquisite, Authentic, 1907, English
Antique Carved wooden tricycle, truly a exquisite piece. This is due to the fact there is so little original around today, the scarcity is contributed to the nature of the piece being broken or discarded after use and the low number produced. The original advertisement clipping (shown in last picture) was located in a 1907 general catalog published in England (rarely seen in the US). Their photo shows the identical horse as the catalog illustration. Sotheby’s attributes the horse to English, ca. This remarkable horse has minor chipping to left hoof, inner wood on wheels are in condition that reflects age of the tricycle with small chip on both inner wheel. The head, body and tail (real horse hair) is in great condition, along with petals handle bars and metal outer rim of wheels. Great for any high end collector and serve as the conversation piece in any room. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Decorative Collectibles\Sculptures & Figurines”. ABOUT PHOTOGRAVURE: Photogravure is an intaglio printmaking process utilizing a carefully etched copper plate made from the original negative/image. Prints are made by pressing suitable paper heavily down upon the inked copper plate which has been intricately etched to varying depths corresponding with the actual tonality of the original negative, This precisely etched plate combined with a fine “honeycomb” screen controls the amount of ink to be transferred to the paper at any given point in direct proportion to the variation of tone in the original image. The result is a true continuous tone print which combines many qualities of a traditional silver based photograph with a tactile feel similar to an etching, engraving or lithograph. Rich in tonal detail, the photogravure process produces delicately rendered shades for a look which is unique in the world of photographic print making. In the early to mid 1900’s photogravure was selected (when budgets allowed) for special high quality publishing and portfolio projects, but due to its significant expense and labor, the process is rarely seen today. From Man Ray and Ruth Bernhard to Brett Weston and Ansel Adams, many of the world’s most renowned photographic masters have published their images in the rich photogravure process. Unauthorized copying or use of ANY PART of this description is prohibited. DO NOT DUPLICATE OR COPY! This item is in the category “Collectibles\Photographic Images\Photographs”. For your consideration is a great Gene Moore Tiffany sterling silver & enamel Circus Horse, made circa 1980’s. This Piece is a part of Gene Moore’s Legendary Circus Series. Neat Circus Horse figure on rolling Wheels. Great heavy gauge silver, very decorative with nice detailing. This Piece is in good age appropriate condition- typical wear from moderate use, a bend to the rear axel (see photo #10), and a small piece of Black enamel missing from side of Wheel (see photo #11). Piece has a bit of enamel crazing on the black enamel banding encircling the Wheels. I have seen this Model with a additional enamel band around the saddle, but I do not believe this Piece ever had that band. Marked: TIFFANY & CO. Weight: 110.7 Grams. Height: 3 3/4 Inches. Length: 3 1/2 Inches. Width: 2 1/2 Inches. Thank you for looking and good luck! This item is in the category “Antiques\Silver\Sterling Silver (.925)\Other Antique Sterling Silver”.
