Two original 1870s CDV of performing birds and their trainer… No doubt “professional performers” considering the photographer, Eisenmann, who was famous for his photos of sideshow and circus personalities. A very rare set! The CDV with the trainer in it is slightly trimmed (dimensions are 3.75″ x 2.5″). The famous New York photographer worked during the late 19th century in the Bowery district. He is most famous for his portraiture work focusing on human oddities from the Barnum & Bailey circus. A wonderul image showing the large woman in all of her beauty posing partially at profile with one arm resting on a book. She is wearing the most beautiful pearl necklace. Likely a Bowery circus or sideshow performer of the era although I could not reference this specific image anywhere. Boasts Eisenmann photographer info at base and great backstamp on verso.
