RARE Authentic 1930s Womens Circus Performance Costume Vintage
You are looking at a one of a kind piece of fashion and circus history. A performance piece owned by “Cathy Schultz” as inscribed on the inside of the garment. These pieces were all from the 1930s. Circus and Menagerie booklet that mentions an Aerial troupe “The Five Fearless Flyers”, and a Holmen Brothers Horizontal Bar Expert poster. It’s hard to say if the pieces were actually owned by any of the mentioned performers, as I could not find a list of their names in my research. Size: This piece could possibly fit a XS – Small. Hips: upper (where sequin starts): 28. Hips: lower (right where the leg opening begins): 35. Leg opening: 11 diagonal across. Length (top center to bottom of crotch): 27. Material:The material is not labeled in any way, has several layers of fabric. Pink main fabric feels like a satin, and has a sheer outer layer of fabric on top of it on most areas, hand-beaded and sequined details adorn this beautiful piece. Feathers line the bottom as well- I believe to be ostrich feathers. White fabric that can be seen mostly as lining on inside is likely cotton. Additional Info: Zipper up back. Condition: Has definite minor signs of wear but this piece is in overall absolutely LOVELY condition for the age, and I believe could certainly be used to perform in again if handled with care. Certain portions of the hand beading have been detached (see photos) but could easily be repaired, or hidden. All sequence are intact. More photographs and information are available upon request!
