Antique Early 20thC Hand-Painted Fairground Sign Children's Joy c. 1910
An Early 20thC Hand-Painted Fairground Sign; Children’s Joy; c. Origin: English Period: Edwardian Provenance: Unknown Date: c. 1910 Width: 31.5″ Height: 6.5″ The decorative hand painted fairground, sign designed to draw in the crowds at fairgrounds in the early-twentieth century, sign written with the words Children’s Joy, in green with yellow highlights and shadowed in orange, the whole being an early example of fairground and circus memorabilia. Suspended from two corner holes, the panel has paint flaking to several areas and scuffs commensurate with age (it was of course part of a travelling troupe) but structurally it is sound. The wording suggests this sign was advertising any number of attractions. A decorative gem, and an early example of its type, encompassing all the fun of the fair with particularly nice sign written script. However, any imperfection, which is deemed to be more than just natural ageing, will be duly described above. B: The P&P stated applies to U. And remember, Antiques are Green! Antique CARTE DE VISITE (CDV) Photograph. Subject: Naomi Sutherland; Beautiful woman with long hair. In the late 1800s, seven sisters living near Niagara Falls in upstate New York used their unusual hairdos to become famous and tour the world. They appeared at dime museums, in P. Barnum’s circus sideshows, and even at world’s fairs. A handbill for one of their appearances called the sisters-Sarah, Victoria, Isabella, Grace, Naomi, Dora, and Mary-the 7 Wonders of the world! 7 Refined and Educated Ladies! 7 Ladies with 49 feet of hair! 7 feet of hair each! Onstage, the Seven Sutherland Sisters showed off their musical talents. But what the audience really waited for was their big reveal: when all seven loosened their cascades of dark hair that swooshed down, brushing the floor. 4.25″ x 2.5″. CDV is in antique condition with some wear. Please contact to make arrangements.

Measures 30″ long x 25″ wide x 14 thick. All measurements were taken from longest / tallest / widest points. Very unique, one of a kind, and interesting piece. See photos for more info.
