Antique CARTE DE VISITE (CDV) Photograph. Photography Studio: Brand’s Art Gallery. Subject: Arthur James Caley (1824 – February 12, 1889) was known professionally as Colonel Routh Goshen. Goshen gained fame by appearing in P. S American Museum and Barnum? S Circus as the tallest man in the world. His advertised measurements were 7? And 620 pounds, when in reality, he was most likely no more than 7? This CDV displays the large man gazing solemnly at the viewer from a seated position dressed as his Middle Eastern alias. Amazing original 1846 creditor papers from county constable for Edward P. Barnum And Noah Hart to Sheriff of Litchfield Ct from Constable of town of Corwall Ct D. Mr Pierce served several functions in the 1840s-50s in his town as constable, general store owner, businessman etc. This is some kind of written letter-law paper with much writing and lists on it of owed expenses to Mr Hart and Barnum. Lots of writing but hard to understand a lot of it. I believe this is the Edward Barnum-P. T Barnum of circus and showman fame having lived in this area at the time of this document. Cant be totally positive? Document is in fair shape with some edge wear/rips on edges and brown spots. 3 sections held together with old pins. 1 small rip at bottom. Looks like signed by a Milton Hart Justice Of The Peace. Not sure if the Edward P. Barnum is his signature or written by The Justice Of The Peace?
