Original Vintage Fabric Poster Bemberg Acrobat by Rene Gruau c1980 Circus

Bemberg came under the control of Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken and eventually disappeared after a series of mergers and divestitures, but Bemberg rayon was still being produced in 2015 by Asahi in Japan, This playful image by the very talented artist Rene Gruau depicts the acrobat wearing some Bemberg fabric for his costume. René Gruau (4 February 1909 31 March 2004) was a fashion illustrator whose exaggerated portrayal of fashion design through painting has had a lasting effect on the fashion industry. Because of Gruau’s inherent skills and creativity, he contributed to a change in the entire fashion industry through the new pictures that represented the already popular designs created by designers in the industry. The benefits, including economic stimulation and enhancement of advertising are still present in the industry today via a new way of fashion illustration, fashion photography. Gruau became one of the best known and favorite artists of the haute couture world. Gruaus artwork is recognized and commended internationally in some of Paris and Italy’s most prestigious art museums including the Louvre in Paris. Iin addition to his international fame and recognition, “Gruau’s artwork is known for its timeless and enduring style”. In this 1986 poster for the Lido nightclub in Paris, Gruau shows his elegant style in promoting a series of upcoming performances at the Lido. Original Vintage Poster Eureka Les Troubadours Finot 1905 France Circus

This delightful original stone lithograph poster was created circa 1905 by Finot to promote a troupe of traveling performers called Eureka. They entertained throughout France and the poster shows of the scenes from their performances. The poster measures 46 x 30.5 inches. The Eureka is in good overall condition. It has been archivally backed onto linen. There are minor professionally restored losses in the margins, and two repaired tears. Please see attached photos for details of the damage. George and Herbert Pinder were the grandsons of founders George and William Pinder, two Englishmen who founded their show about 1854 and took it to France, where this poster was produced, and where the show changed names to Cirque Pinder. George and Herbert were horseback jugglers and – as seen here – musical clowns. The circus has continued in the decades since under various ownership and formats. Features early stunts and animals among other information. It is partially folded out and in a plastic protective sleeve. The paper is very brittle. I do not want to remove it was the sleeve.
