Cabinet photo of P. Barnum’s most famous animal attraction, the real Jumbo the Elephant. Here, Jumbo is pictured with trainer Matthew Scott, whose nickname was Scotty. Jumbo is giving a ride to several adults and children on his back. As no location is indicated, this photo of Jumbo probably precedes Barnum’s ownership when Jumbo was exhibited in England at the London Zoo.
