Great antique paper-maché clown, wind-up clockwork, functional, raises hat, circus
What a happy , antique paper-maché , dancing Clown. When you turn the key it starts to dance and raises it’s hat. Measurements approx : 6.5″ (16 cm) x 8 “(20 cm) h Marked : it has a stamp under the base, hard to read but i think it says Germany. Condition : In used but still good condition for it’s age. Rare Vintage Liddle Kiddles 2 Zoolery Playful Panther with Circus Wagon. Both panther and wagon are in good shape. One as the chain, one does not. When I was a child, my family would go to Disneyland every year. Our treat on the way out was a helium Micky Mouse balloon. My sister and I would spend the next several day using it as a hot air balloon. We would tie a tiny basket to the string and put one of these Kiddles in it and pretend they were taking a trip. Rare Antique Original Schoenhut Humpty Circus Wood Elephant Glass Eyes No Tail
My fabulous antique Schoenhut elephant is probably one of their original handmade wooden toys, dating from 1903+, please see history reference below. Approximate size, 9″ in length by 6″ in height. The good news is that he still has his original glass eyes and leather ears and red leather tusks. The charming clown, seen in a couple of the photographs, is available in a separate listing and is NOT included in the sale. Reference: The Humpty Dumpty Circus was introduced by the Schoenhut company in 1903. The original set consisted of a clown, a chair, and a ladder. The Schoenhut company produced circus toys until 1935. Albert Schoenhut , a German immigrant, began producing piano toys in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1872.
