In the late 1800s, seven sisters living near Niagara Falls in upstate New York used their unusual hairdos to become famous and tour the world. They appeared at dime museums, in P. Barnum’s circus sideshows, and even at world’s fairs. A handbill for one of their appearances called the sisters-Sarah, Victoria, Isabella, Grace, Naomi, Dora, and Mary-the 7 Wonders of the world! 7 Refined and Educated Ladies! 7 Ladies with 49 feet of hair! 7 feet of hair each! Onstage, the Seven Sutherland Sisters showed off their musical talents. But what the audience really waited for was their big reveal: when all seven loosened their cascades of dark hair that swooshed down, brushing the floor. 4.25″ x 2.5″. Antique “Yard Long” B&W Panoramic Photograph Inscribed National Retail Credit Men’s Convention, Detroit, Mich. This fantastic vintage scene shows a lovely crowd of male and female convention delegates in stylish period garb standing in the neutral ground of Washington Blvd at the corner of Park Ave with Downtown Detroit’s Grand Circus Park in the background. Period autos abound and a great street scene of retail storefronts and downtown energy is captured in a perfectly exposed and crisply focused image. Photo is inscribed at bottom right Photo by HA Allen. Spencer & Wyckoff Studios. Photo area measures 9.5″ x 28″ (yeah yeah technically speaking not a “yard long”). Frame measures 11.5″ x 30.5″. Excellent condition all around. I spot no condition issues to print and antique frame in equally excellent condition (probably could use a good cleaning). (Germany) SWINING BOAT CARNIVAL RIDE TOY is in Excellent original condition, with minor abrasions. The base measures 9 x 4.25-inches x 5.75-inches tall, and the tin boats are 3.5-inches long. The wind-up motor swings the boats back and forth, 2 at a time in each direction. The toy and boy and girl passengers are nicely detailed and lithographed. A small bell hangs from the admission price sign. This is a very nice and colorful vintage D. O swinging boat ride.
