ANTIQUE LONDON GHOST SHOW Real Photos Seattle, Washington YESLER MANSION SITE
Offered here are very rare, real photos of the London Ghost Show circus performing in Seattle, Washington circa 1905. You may have seen this on websites- these are the actual photos! The history: after a fire destroyed the famous Yesler mansion in 1901 at Third & Fourth Streets from Jefferson to James streets, the empty lot was used for various purposes. The circus set up there and the Whittelsey couple took these two photos which show a performer on the vortex ramp at the top and descending down it. Also visible are crowds of people attending, the huge tents of the circus, and the old Seattle buildings in the background such as the First Baptist Church on 4th Avenue. This and the other listings of similar grouping of vintage photos we currently have are from the Seattle, Washington Delia and Lewis Gates Whittelsey family photo album. He was a clerk employed with the Water Department and he took many photos of Seattle around the turn of the century 1900’s, 1910’s and 1920’s. In particular, he took photos of the Denny Hill Regrade projects where many buildings and hills were razed and lowered in elevation with much of the fill going to the downtown area to fill in the “swamp” areas that are now waterfront. Two are of the London Ghost Show. The Old Happenings lettering is Not on the item.

This 1990s Jim Rose Circus Tee shirt is in very good vintage condition. It is 100% structurally sound showing little signs of washing or wearing. It is used but not abused. There are a couple very light stains – see pictures. I have not laundered this item. Front left chest image features midget Mexican Wrestler masks with female sumo wrestlers. Back of shirt reads. The eyes were cold and harsh, making them tough to chew. 1122 East Pike St. #720, Seattle, WA 98122. Two white bands across the back feature signatures from the live tour freak show including Bebe the Circus Queen. Other signatures are present but faded. See pictures for details. This shirt may have been from the 1998 tour that was banned in New Zealand and jailed the troupe in Lubbock Texas. The Jim Rose Circus is a modern-day version of a circus sideshow. [1][2] It was founded in Seattle in 1991 by Jim Rose, the Amazing Mister Lifto, the Torture King, Matt the Tube Crowley and Slug the Sword Swallower who later became the Enigma. The sideshow came to prominence to an American audience as a second stage show at the 1992 Lollapalooza festival, then called the “Jim Rose Circus Sideshow”, although they had toured the Northwest and Canada and had several US TV appearances before this time. Rolling Stone magazine called the show an “absolute must-see act” and USA Today termed Rose’s troupe “Lollapalooza’s word-of-mouth hit attraction”.
