Vintage GREYHOUND Dog Racing MONKEY JOCKEY Antique CIRCUS CARNIVAL SADDLE. This item came from a local vintage circus collection in Sarasota, Florida. The entire collection was amassed from the c1910’s-1950’s by members of the ERNESTO FAMILY / CHARLES ERNESTO TROUPE. This family performed an equestrian / acrobatic show, and appeared with many circuses and western rodeos over the years, including RINGLING BROTHERS AND BARNUM & BAILEY. The archive contained vintage circus photos, autographs, signed contracts, route cards, and more. This little saddle was used identified in the collection as a saddle for a dog, with a monkey as the rider. Of exceptional quality, and extremely well-made. This saddle was certainly for show, with the fancy stitched patent leather over the cast iron base. Seat section has a glossy Japanned lacquer finish. Saddle measures just 6 5/8″ wide, and 3 5/8″ tall. Displays beautifully, and all original, with no breaks or repairs. Guaranteed to be vintage, and not a reproduction. BOOKS & LARGE ITEMS.
