It depicts the cats of Professor Frederick’s Performing Cats Show. The drawing is by artist Louis Wain. On the back of the print is a long article that describes the training and the show. The professor states that black cats are the easiest to train! Louis Wain (5 August 1860 4 July 1939) was an English artist best known for his drawings, which consistently featured anthropomorphised large-eyed cats and kittens. Wain was involved with several animal charities, including the Governing Council of Our Dumb Friends League, the Society for the Protection of Cats, and the Anti-Vivisection Society. He was also active in the National Cat Club, acting as President and Chairman of the committee at times. He felt that he helped “to wipe out the contempt in which the cat has been held” in England. It measures approximately 10.75 x 7.75 inches (approximately 27 x 20 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below. The page is in excellent condition for its age. There is unrelated text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition. This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
