This item is possibly a souvenir from the time at which Carl Hagenbeck’s trained animals were performing at Coney Island in New York between the years of 1907 and 1914. He sued to prohibit the use of his name but lost in court. This may be why the cover shows “Charles Hagenbek” instead. In the programme, the show is shown to start with Nala Damajanti, a snake charmer who was mentioned by Carl in his 1909 autobiography as one of his best snake customers. Because of this, we believe that this was a program souvenir from a real show at this time. The pages are no longer connected in places but are in good condition, with the coloring and illustrations in a vibrant and distinctive style. This unique and rare item is a beautiful piece of circus paraphernalia and history. The item you will receive is the item pictured. Please consider the photos as part of the description. Thank you for looking.
