Antique 1918 SCHOENHUT Wooden Circus Clown that was part of the Humpty Dumpty Circus and has his original painted face, hands and shoes. He measures 9 1/2 from the tip of his clown shoes to the top of his cap. He wears the original costume all be it soiled designed of hearts, clubs, diamonds, spades and the face of the moon. He still has his pointed cloth cap and his frayed red collar. The clown’s wooden face has a couple of slight dings we tried to photograph for your inspection. The wooden hands and shoes are painted red and white are in very good condition. According to the O’Brien collectors guidebook he should rate a C-6 on condition so please judge for yourself. The animals of the Schoenhut Circus are fairly common to find but the characters especially the clowns and ring master are very scarce. We love the played with condition of this toy but with a little attention the costume could be cleaned if you desire. Anyway, we hope someone is looking to add this clown to their Schoenhut Circus….
