Aka Charles had many different incarnations as entertainers and performers; we’ve found items dated as early as 1907 in the collection. Of over (100) photos & documents. Some of the names one, or both, performed under include The Bluegrass Comedian, Schepp Bros. Dog & Pony Show , Schepp’s Circus, Schepp’s Comedy Circus, Schepp’s Society Circus and Schepp’s Minstrel Revue. Grover also toured with Al G. Field Minstrels, and Lasses White Allstar Minstrels during and after his years with Schepp’s Circus. The below information was found in Billboard Magazine, though it appears the sale never occurred and their shows continued on well past that time! Owing to ill health, F. Schepp, manager of the Famous Schepp Dog and Pony Show, has decided to withdraw from the show game, and is offering for sale his entire outfit. April 3, 1915, p. Sacrifice sale, the Famous Schepp ponies, dogs, monks. Account broken health of trainer Schepp. Four ponies, two black and white spotted, one brown, one white; military drill, single specialties, talking pony, mathematical problems, menage act, praying, kissing, waltzing, and bucking number. Depicts four performing monkeys (5 monkeys total, as Kitty is holding her baby) and Peanuts holding a puppy, sitting on a beautiful antique bench. I mean, come on you all, how adorable is this nurturing? The photograph includes several inscriptions stating the monkeys’ names and when some of them joined Schepp’s show. Here is what they say. Minnie joined at Minneapolis April 20, 1919. Gave birth to baby at Saskatoon June 10, 1920. Baby died ” ” June 12. Minnie died Edmonton Canada June 19, 1920. Replaced by Boo-Boo #2. Not in this setting but now permanent in the show. “Jimmie” (The infamous Jimmie “The Nutcracker”). Peanuts holding a puppy. Peanuts is Pats’ successor. Kitty holding her baby. Kitty joined at Chicago in Oct 1919. Baby Girl and the sensation of the Pantages Circuit July 1920. Grover and his brother Chas.
