“ORIGINAL ELEPHANT WITH GLASS EYES (c1903)”. It is handmade of wood and was part of the “Humpty DumptyCircus” collection of characters which was first created by Schoenhut in 1903. Copies were made of this elephant since 1950 however they were not exactly the same as the originals. You can tell an original from the glass eyes, the leather ears and the legs which have jointed feet. Basically the one on sale here. It is absolutely delightful and a very hard item to bring myself to sell. Length 9″, height 6 1/4″. The elephant is in overall excellent condition in keeping with its age. However, a small part of the lower trunk is missing and the paint has a few bare spots, mainly on the lower legs.
